New Update 04/25/2026:

Big update today!

Overall:

  • Completely revamped the budget editor. Controls all remain the same, they will just work better and create more fluid experience.

Budget Editor App Controls:

  • Saving Budget: Saves are delayed as to make sure the server catches all of your changes. The saved indicator in the header will show its status.
  • Adding a Budget Item: The menu at the bottom of the page still lets you add a new item. No big changes there.
  • Double Tap Menu: Double tapping/clicking a budget item will open a menu to either delete or mark fulfilled. Instead of this menu opening below the item it now slides the item to the left to reveal your options.
  • Deleting items: There are two ways to delete items. One is selecting items individually with the radial buttons to the left or all of them with the radial button in the header. The other option is opening the items menu and clicking the trash can. If the item is recurring you will be asked if you want to delete all recurring items (only available with trashcan method).
  • Updated Budget Items: Holding down on any of the budget items values (i.e. name, category, date, amount). Will give you the option to change the value for that item.

In the works:

  • Working to provide an interactive guide through the Budget Editor portion of the app to help new visitors become acquainted with it.

New Update 01/31/2026:

Just some user experience updates this week.

Overall:

  • Fixed some visual glitches.

Budgeting App:

  • Updated the Renew Budget feature. It now renews your budget with respect to the calendar dates. Now your recurring budget items should continue from the previous budget and non-recurring items will be removed.

Authentication Issues:

  • There was an issue where timed-out sessions would bring you to an unauthorized access page. This should now take you to the home page to log in again.

New Update 01/25/2026:

There are no real significant changes to the look of the app. This update was intended to improve the overall performance, reliability and security of Clear-Budget.

Overall:

  • Before we used a synchronous system to handle requests and have now updated it to an asynchronous system. Now the site can handle multiple requests more effectively. Following this change we observed a significant boost in site performance and reliability.

Login/Register:

The following only applies to those who register with a username and password.

  • We have improved login security. As a result, the site will email you a link to reset your password.
  • Registration now requires email verification before accessing the application.

Budgeting App:

  • Issue: The balance and rolling balance would not always update correctly when making changes to your budget.
    1. We have replaced the scripts handling your budget items to process this data more reliably.
  • Issue: Your budget wasn’t always saving correctly resulting in missing budget items or poor placement within the budget.
    1. Changes to the scripts handling how this information is passed to the server has fixed this issue.
  • Issue: The budget breakdown was not updated correctly when making changes and after making changes you were unable to mouse over the different expenses to view the total amount expended.
    1. This has now been fixed. You should be able to check the total amount expended after making changes to your budget.

Blog:

  • Issue: Related articles were not populating correctly.
    1. Fixed. You will now be able to navigate freely between blog posts.
  • Issue: The like button would not respond as expected nor will it add a like.
    1. Fixed. The button will respond as expected and the number of likes will be updated depending on how you interact with the button.
  • CHANGE: We are placing ads into the blog. This will be the only place on the site with advertising. This is just intended to help off-set the cost of hosting the site and keep providing a free service for everyone to use.
